Miki's Naiads and Oceanids

In Greek mythology, there were female deities, called "nymphs". "Naiads and Oceanids" were water nymphs. The domain of the naiads was freshwater: streams, rivers, lakes, brooks, springs fountains, ponds, wells and marshes. The Oceanids were charged with the care of the oceans. The naiads and Oceanids were very connected to their bodies of water- and their existence was intimately intertwined with those waters. For example, if a stream dried up, so too, did the nymph who inhabited it perish. The waters over which the naiads and Oceanids ruled were thought to be endowed with magical properties that enhanced health, the gift of prophecy and inspiration.
